But which one? Every team composition will be looking for different abilities and factors, of course, but there are certain leaders in Evil Dead: The Game that make teammates a bit more excited than others. Do what feels right, but this seems to be the community consensus on what works the most consistently.

3 Lord Arthur

Arthur brings up the rear for several unfortunate reasons. Melee-focused attacks are a fine way to play the game, but there just isn’t enough synergy here. Ash’s aura boosts all damage and Annie’s boosts all ranged damage. It takes Arthur two abilities to boost all melee attacks.

The incentive to play with a sword and starting with a sword are barely even boons. The starting weapon is often replaced with a better one within the first minute of a match. And Arthur will sometimes be forced to pass up on better weapons to try and keep his skills relevant. He’s a great melee attacker and may appeal to some players, but his disadvantages are rather pronounced compared to the other two options.

2 Annie Knowby

Annie is a leader that is very frustrating to play against as a deadite. From level one, her entire team’s ranged damage is increased. This forces her enemies to get in close. But if she’s leveled up, then she’s also made it so her team can knock opponents off-balance.

Finishing moves and scripted attacks are more than just a lot of damage, they give the attacker a chance to regenerate stamina and become briefly invincible. She does need to coordinate with a group of friends who agree to focus on ranged attacks, but if she’s controlled by a good communicator, it’s all over.

1 Ash Williams (Ash Vs Evil Dead)

The other two leaders seem to shoehorn teammates into playing a certain way. It’s Ash’s versatility that makes him so valuable. His aura increases damage from all sources, so no teammate will be truly left in the dark.

His third skill, the free chainsaw, isn’t anything too interesting since better melee weapons are found within a few moments in each match. But his other three abilities are rock solid, especially the level one active ability that lowers enemies’ balance bars. It makes opponents easier to finish. A finish makes the aura stronger. There’s just an incredible synergy here that playing with friends from all platforms can appreciate.

Evil Dead: The Game was released on May 13th, 2022, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
