Poyet said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’m a big, big fan of Jose. I think it’s going to be good. I don’t know why people are being so negative. It’s going to be fantastic.
“People think that the second time around it’s never as good, but I think it will be because he’s got the personality, the knowledge and the fans love him.
“Everything is in place for him to have a good few years at the club.
“Jose will bring something special to the team. He’s perfect for England.”
The Portugese coach will be unveiled by the Blues on Monday afternoon. Poyet played for at Chelsea for four seasons and branded Mourinho as a winner. He was speaking on the occasion of a legends tournament in Barbados where he played alongside other ex-Chelsea players Gianfranco Zola, Roberto di Matteo and Dennis Wise.
“He’s unique and he brings plenty into the equation. He always has an opinion, he’s very honest. People like that. He’s a winner it’s people like this that you need in English football.” he added.
